A time for reflection

As holidays are upon us and the end of year is in sight,

what a wonderful time to reflect....into our new 522 Industries mirrors! 

Our solid brass round mirrors come with 1/4" thick mirror glass and are available in several different sizes. We took the brass and hand applied a dark "oil rubbed" finish, then slowly took that down with steel wool to reveal more of a soft, brighter finish. Comes in two different styles of mounting plates.  What a great year this was, thank you all for making it possible.  Reflect on the past year with one of your own... Oh and you can throw in a few brass coat hooks too boot... nobody looks good in those big wintery coats....

So wash your hands and dig in.. and when you wake up new years morning wishing the world had ended just be thankful for the eggs and coffee on the new breakfast table...

Francophile

No not James Franco...

 but he sure is funny, and I can't wait for the prequel to the Wizard of Oz that is coming soon, but the Frenchie love kind... you know sauce, wine and cheese and of course my buddies Francois's mother Marie Antoinette's "bœuf aux carottes".... That woman can cook. You know, dinners outside in the garden and the camembert pulled out of the BBQ all melted and gooey for dessert...sorry... I got distracted... ANYWAY we just built a new table for a wonderful client in the Peninsula and came up with these legs kind of similar in shape to the Eiffle tower... Solid 2" water jet hot rolled steel with a dark patina and a walnut live edge table top... put the cheese down and give us a ring.. we can build one for you as well.

 Here a couple quick shots of them in production with more coming soon.  Solid 2" thick A36 hot rolled steel.  Water jet from a huge slab of steel.  They are then sandblasted and blackened with a black patina and then sealed with a clear satin.  Be sure to catch the epic Water vs. steel coming this summer!

NY Design week

Wish we were there!

But we have too much to do here...so in honor of Design week we will be posting little prototypes and actual products all week long...after all tomorrow is Five Twenty Two!

So to start it all off a small little light prototype.  Spun aluminum shade with a bronze flex tube terminating into a claro walnut Base.

uh....WOW!

Stunned.... I have been at this a few years... like 19 or 20 or something... and I just got to drop off a table for a home in SF by architect Jonathan Feldman... one word STUNNING.  The back wall is all industrial sash windows, the house also has a beautiful staircase and wall of glass and steel... now I can't show you all those pictures but I can show you the picture of our table.. the table top was done by Aaron Robinson in the south bay and if you need contact info I can get it to you... meanwhile head over to Feldman Architecture's site and peep the beauty..This house is not there yet.. but I'll let you know when it hits all the shelter rags....

Get you romance on.....

Gitane is one of the best spots in SF to get your Romance on.. What with Valentines coming up you might as well go on and get it on...while you are there you can sit with your sweetie pie on an original 522 Industries bar stool and before you start your embrace you can head into the very elegant bathroom to make sure there is no chicken tajine stuck in your teeth... you may as well enjoy the bathroom because sometime last year it was voted the best bathroom in SF as well... we did the enclosure and if you sit outside you can think warm thoughts as we did the wind screen as well...just remember it's just one night.. just smile and nod... you can day dream about us working for you as you look lovingly into your certain someone's eyes....

TitleCase

We just made some desks for the new offices of Erik Marinovich and Jessica Hische two dope typographic artisans that are setting up a shared shop in SF. Simple industrial hot rolled frames with wood tops complete with spots for tools of the trade.  Some pencil holders, a cup for pens and a small rack for either hanging the latest design rag or a roll of vellum paper...Designed in association with Amy Campos we can't wait to see what comes out of this new creative space.....and hope to get invited to a party or two...Does this font make me look fat? We build it right, we can build it for you.

Look who is coming to dinner

Or even better look at where they are eating! Anything looks appetizing on this parsons table we built for John Lum. Hot rolled steel legs all mitered cut and welded from behind leaves a super clean and crisp look and the red glass top looks down right sexy... call us.. Thanksgiving is coming up!

A room without a book...

A room without a book is like a body without a soul... Marcus Tullius Cicero is credited with this quote, and to make sure this room had enough soul we added a floor to ceiling bookcase in this San Francisco Victorian. We used hot rolled steel with a clear satin finish and solid oak shelving and kept it clean and simple... Of course in order to reach all those books you have to add a ladder...we did that too... need some soul? Give us a call.

Kudos to John Lum architecture for their award for Sustainable Architecture from California Home and Design. Check out the article HERE. If you look close enough.. and please do, we have something for you in each picture except the bathroom..Now it's time to play "Where's 522?" Kind of like playing where's Waldo without the sweater...First pic.. can you find the dinning table we did?.. That was easy.. How about the Cor-ten house numbers and planter in the second picture? Our beautiful Bookcase in the third? and I know..too easy The railing in the fourth pic... Damn you are good...call us and we can build beautiful things for you as well... We will post bigger pics for those of you having a hard time tomorrow.

Come and get it! Dinner is ready. We just finished up this table/bar/kitchen island thingy for a client in Sonoma. I guess we should just call it a multipurpose kitchen table. Bar height with solid hot rolled steel legs with hidden levelers and a solid walnut top.... It will make ANY dish taste better. Call US for dinner.

No Starch just rail

New Railings for No Starch Press's new digs in SF... I guess we went literal..heh.. puns. Lowest form of comedy. Oh well...What can we say we do steel, not stand up. Calls us we can do things for you.

Time to Convert

Thinking about a new religon? How about just a change of clothes... Convert, a new clothing store is opening tomorrow on Berkeley's famed "4th" st. I think as far as sales tax goes it's Berkeley's "1st" St. Anyway I digress...Check them out and the beautiful racks, shelves and sexy steel counter top we did for them... and while you are there pick up a new t-shirt.. that one has a stain..and are you really going to wear those shoes? Look...its' time for a new wardrobe..Two birds with one stone...we can do the same for your store....
